Making an A-List ... and checking it twice: Local experts bestow beauty-enhancing gifts on celebs in need

No matter how large the hair and makeup budget, even the toniest of celebrities can use some cosmetic stocking stuffers now and then. So we queried Boston beauty authorities to find out the holiday gifts they're dying to give to some of our favorite superstars. Of course, all of these goodies are available on the shelves or in the treatment rooms of local businesses - so don't hesitate to pick something up for the A-lister on your own list.

  • As anyone who has done the long-distance love thing knows, travel can be hell on hair: locks rarely look their best after early-morning train, plane, and automobile rides home following weekend rendezvous. So with Blake Lively bouncing back and forth between NYC and Boston - where BF Ryan Reynolds has been shooting his latest flick - she'd better take extra care of her mane. "I'd give Blake Shu Uemura's Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo," says Nicholas Penna Jr., owner and lead stylist at SalonCapri (31 Lincoln Street, Newton Highlands, 617.969.1970; 406 Legacy Place, Dedham, 781.320.0900). He's a big fan of the recently released shampoo ($55). "It's a paraben- and silicone-free formula that gently cleanses hair and draws out impurities and build-up."
  • We still fondly remember the days when Dorchester homeboy Mark Wahlberg modeled Calvin Klein's tighty-whities. But something we'd rather not see? Wahlberg sporting a Casper-white complexion when he (inevitably) shows off his still-hot bod in the upcoming sequel to The Fighter. "With Mr. Wahlberg's fair Irish skin and physique sure to be prominently on display, we suggest a sunless-tanning series," says Christine Haddad, spa director at G2O Spa & Salon (278 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.262.2220). With the purchase of five sessions ($45 each), G2O provides a sixth free. "Our VersaSpa Skin Care System's customized mist-free application and air-blow-dry technology will leave him bronzed and immediately ready to redress. He can tan . . . and be back in the ring before the director yells ‘Action!' "
  • We couldn't have been happier to hear that the former first lady of Destiny's Child is, well, with child. But even bootylicious Beyoncé won't be immune to some of the less joyous parts of pregnancy. "Our Mama Mio kit is perfect for Beyoncé's baby bump," says Emily Payne, lead esthetician and nail technician at Bliss at W Boston (100 Stuart Street, Boston, 877.862.5477). The three-product kit ($70) sounds like it could be perfect for the moms-to-be on our shopping lists, too. Payne explains: "The Tummy Rub smoothes out stretch marks. The multitasking Omega Wonder-Full Balm has a million uses, from moisturizing hands and feet to healing burns and cuts. Lastly, Boob Tube boosts your neck and décolletage with CoQ10 that repairs collagen loss."
  • After turning her wedding into a televised spectacle and filing for divorce just 72 days later, Kim Kardashian has a little egg on her face. But that's not all. There's no denying that Kardashian "loves her makeup," says Brad Duncan, owner of Brad Duncan Skin Care (530 Tremont Street, Boston, 617.482.1700). "It's very rare that we see Kim without heavy foundation, bronzer, and smoky eye makeup. She needs to make sure she doesn't let cosmetic usage clog her pores or irritate her skin. Her face - along with another part of her body that will go unnamed - is her moneymaker, so she needs to treat it well!" Duncan says he'd offer the starlet his Signature Facial ($225) to rejuvenate her face, clear out build-up from makeup, and freshen her complexion.
  • Something we wondered when we last caught a rerun of Friends: how do all these underemployed 20-somethings afford such great apartments? Something else we wondered: how has Jennifer Aniston not aged in 10 years? "You can bet she pays close attention to what she puts on her skin," says Jasmina Aganovic, creator of Stages of Beauty ( To help her stay ageless, Aganovic suggests her Elegance Multi-Peptide Serum ($52.99/15ml, $74.99/30ml). "This will go on light and sheer, allowing her to maintain her fresh-faced look while fighting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, this serum is jam-packed with hyaluronic acid to keep her skin hydrated - especially during the flights from LA to NY and during the colder and drier winter months in the city."
