August 23-26, 2012: Films at the Gate at Chinatown Park
It sounds like an idyllic summer night — taking in an al fresco film under city lights and stars, soaking in a symphony of crickets, distant cars, and the soothing sounds of Jackie Chan pummeling his enemies. Yep, you guessed it: Films at the Gate is back, bringing four nights of kung fu flicks to Chinatown Park on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The series’s seventh annual installment kicks off at 8 p.m. tomorrow with Master of the Flying Guillotine, a ’70s Taiwanese classic that has inspired everyone from Quentin Tarantino to the creators of the Street Fighter video games. Like all of this week’s movies, it’s helpfully subtitled (in case your Mandarin is a little rusty). Don’t forget to stop for some Chinatown takeout to nosh as you watch, and check out the full schedule at filmsatthegate.org.
