Normally, you’ll find chef Suzi Maitland commanding the kitchen at Somerville’s Trina’s Starlite Lounge, serving Southern-tinged comfort food amid retro posters and neon beer signs. But this Wednesday, she’s trading the bustle of Inman Square for the more down-home digs at Smolak Farms (315 South Bradford Street, North Andover, 978.682.6332), just a 45-minute drive from Boston. Maitland is the latest toque to tackle Smolak’s Whim series, which features a hayride tour, a three-course al fresco feast in the farm’s pine grove, and a post-dinner bonfire — in other words, a perfectly rustic respite for urbanites feeling a bit cooped up. Tickets ($65) are available here, and a portion of proceeds will benefit On the Rise, a nonprofit that helps women transition out of homelessness. Can’t make it this Wednesday?
