February 10 + 17 | AcousticaElectronica at the Oberon

As anyone familiar with sticky floors, stiff well drinks, and clouds of Drakkar Noir can attest, nightclubs are not always home to the classiest offerings. And classical ones? Pretty much never. So we're intrigued by AcousticaElectronica, an "ultimate dance party" that will attempt to bridge the gap between the club and the concert hall at OBERON (2 Arrow Street, Cambridge, 617.496.8004). Composed by Athena Adamopoulos, AcousticaElectronica has DJs the WIG, Mike Swells, David Day, George Vala, and Randy Deshaies remixing centuries-old masterpieces like Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" for maximum dance-floor-busting power. As they put a trance spin on Chopin and introduce Bach to a back beat, they'll be accompanied by live musicians and go-go dancers trained in ballet, jazz, and modern styles. Sounds like music to our ears. Grab tickets ($20-$50) for the 9 p.m. show at cluboberon.com.
