060611 Get Out

Drinking and dancing can be a tricky combination. A few libations can do wonders to lubricate our hips. But a few too many, and we’re suddenly flailing like uncoordinated idiots. (How many times have you watched a relative’s wedding video only to wonder, “Who invited Gumby to get down to the Bee Gees?”) So proceed with caution at tomorrow night’s return of Tequila Tuesdays, a summer series at Sushi-Teq (InterContinental Boston, 510 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, 617.217.5150). Every week from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the spot's outdoor, waterfront space will host complimentary tastings of different featured tequilas. And there’s also a creative cocktail menu, which includes this season’s new Lights Out Over Boston (pictured), a margarita enhanced with honey that will soon be harvested from the hotel’s own rooftop hives. And once you’ve built some liquid confidence, put it to use: professional dancers will be on hand to provide free salsa lessons. (But take it easy. Remember, it’s “Lights Out,” not “blackout.”) On the other hand, if you’d rather leave the dancing to the pros, The Beehive (541 Tremont Street, Boston, 617.423.0069) will be abuzz this Tuesday with its Tango Café, a night of live tango performances, Argentinean dinner specials, and Milagro Tequila cocktail specials. The food and drink will be served from 5 p.m. on, and the performances will kick off at 8 p.m. and run intermittently throughout the night. So drink up, and dance on down. But a reminder to wedding-video idols: tequila doesn't give you permission to attempt "the worm."
